Maran male?

Hello! I have two marans and curious if the black (gray?) one is a male. We purchased them in early May, if I remember correctly, as chicks. She has not made any attempt to crow but was picked on terribly by a former rooster of ours when she was smaller. Thinking male bc of tail feathers? Or too early to tell? Thank you!

Those look like Easter Eggers to me, not Marans, one is for sure a cockerel, and the other looks like it could be as well, but I can't tell for sure.

Very pretty Easter Eggers! Yes, the darker one closer to the camera is a cockerel. He has male specific saddle feathering.

Thank you for the reply! Shoot, the farm store had them as Cuckoo Marans but I’ll take them as Easter Eggers for sure! Hoping then, that the brown one is a female.

Yup, both are gorgeous Easter Eggers! Dark blue one is a male and the self blue/wheaten colored one is a female. Congrats on two beautiful birds!
