there are few to no "pure" breed Marans as the APA standard was only just set for a few of the Marans breeds. Many folks are now working hard on the ones APA has approved. I would go over to one of the Marans threads in the breeds section and check out the copious information on Marans. Also some Marans types lay darker eggs then others!
