Marans chicks, is this what they should look like? **pic**

Can anyone tell me the basic Cuckoo MAran standard like feet beak comb etc.. I wanted to get a few but know NOTHING !

id you really get 3 Black Coppers from Donna? How dark were the eggs? I got a batch of Golden Cuckoo Marans eggs from her but only had a crummy old incubator that wasn't holding steady on temp. One golden hatched out but didn't absorb yolk and later died. I have 3 Cuckoos that hatched out fine and they are 3 weeks old today.
I now have 51 Marans eggs and 8 Call duck eggs in a new incubator and praying my other new incubator comes Monday. I got a new Genesis and temp has been right on at all times, so ordered another one. Love the one I have. Karen

You are so right about the Goldens! If people only knew, but then it's probably better they don't know how nice they are since they're nearly impossible to find and $1500. + if you can find one. I want to ask you about your Goldens, so please email me or move this over to

Wow! Good luck with the new incubator, hope you have a super hatch. I got a 90% hatch out of the Goldens I got from her, and a 30% hatch on the Black Coppers. She's sending me for free more Black Coppers since they were all incubated together, I should have gotten the same percentage on the BC's as well. She's very fair!

What's your projected hatch date?

An empty egg to me is when you candle the egg and it is clear, no aircell, veins just translucent. I might have the wrong term for it.

Oh, ok. Whatever you call it, we don't like empty eggs. We like full eggs. Here's hoping the rest of yours stay full. ;-)
