I can't even wait until lights-out to candle, so I've spent many a session in the pantry with the doors closed!

Thanks, Arielle, you stay safe too.

my 3 are darkened at the fat end were the air cell is. what are you using to incubate them? are you hand turning? temp and humidity?
my light is no weres near bright enough to see the veins and embro so i will have to wait till they hatch or not

The wide end of the egg should be the area where light shines through, shouldn't be dark even with Marans eggs. I use a Brisea Mini Advance with an auto turner. I set the temps at 99.9 F and the humidity is controlled by the bator.

Any LED flashlight these days should be able to provide you with enough light to see well enough through even the darkest Marans egg to know whether it has started to develop or not.

How long have your eggs been in the bator?

well its the whites thats in the pointy end and the air cell at the top my led isnt strong enough to hardly see anything but i can see the little chick growing (barly see the little moving chick) they have been in there almost 10 days now. my tester i had in there for 10 days looked the same thought it wasnt doing anything and i accidently cracked it while candling so i had to toss it but before i did i opened it the rest of the way and there was the poor little chick i just killed

You are too funny! Love your blog! And here I thought your 'secret weapon' was going to be patience. Good thing though, I'm hard pressed for patience, but I do believe I can drum up one of those flashlights.

Thanks Blarneyeggs! My secret weapon is creativity. My curse is impatience!
