Wandered through a farmer's market yesterday before my flight home. There were stacked piles of Coturnix quail selling for US $4.85 each. They were plucked, except for their heads. Feet were still attached, and they weren't eviscerated. I don't know how they killed them. There were also bins of Marans eggs, from 3 to 5 in color. I fortunately resisted the urge to put a few in my suitcase, as I was shaken down by a Hitler-Youth customs agent in Boston. (He was angry that I had a bottle of wine with an unbroken seal, and told me never to get off the airplane until the cork had been pulled and replaced - cutting the foil isn't enough. I pointed out that the TSA doesn't allow us to have corkscrews, and that really set him off. He was also perturbed that I didn't know what kind of cheeses I had, and didn't think my explanation was funny - that I don't speak French and buy whatever looks interesting using the Point-and-Grunt method.)

I freely admit that my personal dress blues were never tailored to accommodate any other undergarments where large eggs could be hidden, either.

BAGAAWK!
