hi, I read somewhere that marans eggs shell is so strong that salmonella can't go through. Is this true?

Marans eggs are not the easiest to hatch as the shell is so thick and waterproof, probably from their originally having been bred in a marshy area and needing to have extra strong waterproof eggs. They are also great birds to have

so does that mean salmonella can't go through?

Its a hard question, it actually depends. My guess is yes it can, but I really don't know, sorry about that.

I seriously doubt it.
Marans eggs have very thick color coating, which can make them harder to hatch.
