Here is the BC color Standard submitted by the MCC. I don't see where it mentions undercolor on the body. It should. It also does not address white feathers in the tail and wings....it should. At t his point without a complete description from the club, I can only say that white feathers in the wing or tail would be a fault in each section.

Hello Walt, thanks for coming aboard! I see in this copy of the proposed, that there is nothing DQing the lack of shank feathering? I had thought that I had read before that a lack of shank/toe feathering was a DQ? Also, in the leg color, I thought that white was preferred, but in the BCM the slate coloring was allowed. Am I wrong here or does this keep changing? It's getting so hard to keep up! Thanks again for your input!

Germaine, You have a good bunch to start off with!

Debbi

That would be a defect. I have an email into the club to clarify some of these points. I will need that information before the qualifying meet.
Lack of leg feathering should be a DQ and needs to be added.
The leg color has been changing, but last I heard it was slate.

Fowlman It is nice to get some good feedback on here. It is also great to see someone with obvious years of experience take the time to give us a tutorial and back it up with years of experience and pictures... Loved the website. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm I don't think they are going to double in size that fast. How many do you have? It seems that when one starts laying the rest fall in close behind.

I was only getting 1 or 2 for about 2 weeks out of my Bev pen but yesterday I got 5.

PINK - - - I want to see more pictures of your eggs - - - Don't stay away too long.

RUSTY - - - So many roos, I don't know how I would make a decision with that many.

Fowlman01 - - - I am following you on the heritage thread, too.

I miss Bev Davis's comments on this thread - - - I hope she visits again soon.

CluckyCluck - - - nice to see you on this thread - - - WELCOME !

Debbi - - - I appreciate the tone and patience you show with others on this thread!

There have been some very experienced and nice people on this thread.
I hope these good people will not let the comments of others keep them away from . . . . .

PLEASE, everybody, remember that there are gentle ways to say what you want to say . . ..
It won't be much of a thread if everybody leaves because they have been offended.

Mathace, I had said I was leaving the forum for a while but decided to ask Walt to come to the thread to help out with some of the questions. I will be gone now and the thread can go back to the way it was before. Wish everyone luck with their Marans.

Here is the Standard submitted by the MCC. It is also on their site. Read it and we can talk. Note, that it does address the undercolor in the Wheaten. I am doing research now on the white feathers in the tail/wings of the BC's. It appears to be addressed in the general DQ's under "foreign color".

Read it over and we can talk about it when I return Monday. I can answer quick questions until tonight.
