The black ones are hard to find. You might want to ask Onthespot because she did some research trying to find them.

Someone on here just posted the other day, maybe within the past week, that they had hatched out three black marans, a feathered roo, a feathered pullet and a smooth pullet chick. I asked where they got them from but the answer has escaped me.

Its not a cereal box it is an old Family Circle magazine. The colors complemented the eggs. Thank for the compliments. you can tell I got bored with picture taking for ebay uh?
Thanks

DH and I managed to finish the Marans breeder pen and coop at dark last night and then carried them one by one into their new home. They seem to like it and were already laying eggs. We converted one of the many old buildings on the property - I think it must have been a run-in-shed and it had a crib that still had hay in it and other hens had been using it as a nest box. The property is a 100 year old plantation home located on a 1790 land grant of 6000 acres. We only own 18 acres. The original descendants own all the surrouding land.

Here's my Jesse James gang:

And their hawk watch/guard dog Rex on duty.

Of course we still have to clean up our mess, make final touches and trim work and paint but at least we could move the Marans in. James had a bad habit of taking the group of 8 ladies way off into side pasture and Jesse had a bad habit of hanging out in coop and challenging the dozen more mature roos while going for THEIR ladies. We're hoping they will be much safer in their new home.

All I can say is WOW I had not seen those birds really up close they are beautiful and very typey! I love the coppering on the hens and the egg color is fantastic. That pen looks great I have been thinking about a large solid pen instead of the smaller movable ones I have been using.
