All I want for New years is to see an egg from my own girls

I really would like to show you guys another Cuckoo Marans egg. They are getting extra light now but its not helping them start up I guess I might just have to wait a few more weeks.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Welcome Smartie Pants. Cute Cuckoo. Couldn't guess on her age either.

Drom, your babies are beautiful!!!!!!!! Henry, I meant to say your blue pullet is adorable. Her copper may come in yet.

Dear lord, folks, it is bitter freezing cold. Hovering just over 0 with a wicked wicked wind chill.

I am SOOOO glad I splurged for the water heaters.

Our poor babies are out in the barn, seemingly doing fine. They aren't venturing far from their heat lamps though......They are just 7 weeks and transitioned out there last week.

One below here with -30 wind chill. YUCK! But all is fine with the chickens and they are not heated. Even my 12 week old babies (red stars) are doing good. Buckets of hot water for all this morning.

I will have to check for eggs every hour. Got two already, one is nice and dark.

I would like to know if there are any black copper or wheaton marans folks in southern Ohio. I "plan" to make a trip up that way toward the end of March for my Mom's birthday and would like to pick up some birds. Thanks

Vershire (I hear most people pronounce it Ver sheer) is a really nice area in Orange Co. You'll really like it. My farm co-op has members from that area. I think you are about an hour away from me once you are there. How long will you be at the school and what are you learning there?

Dave Williams is in Ohio. I don't know if Vincent, Ohio is in the southern part of the state or not-I've never been to Ohio. But Dave has Wheatens and Black Coppers.

I will be there from January 30 to May 30 of this year. I will be learning a lot about sustainablility and then my regular classes (spanish III, Algebra II, English, and Humanaties as a History) I will also be taking advanced Enviromental Science. It looks like a great program and is very and I mean very academically strong! It going to be hard but I am sure I will love it.
