I got them!!!!
I had given up hope, when at 6:30 tonight, a car pulled up my driveway...and there was a knock at my door. It was the Fed Ex guy in his own car, not a Fed Ex truck at all! He came by on his way home (we live way out of the way, I guess he lives even further up the mountain) I told him I had been waiting since Friday for the box, he was very apologetic - I guess no one else will drive or deliver up here, and he has Mondays and Tuesdays off! Not his fault the local Fed Ex guys are putzes. He said they hold the packages for our ridge at the center, even though they're not supposed to, and I could actually file a complaint....I just hate to make waves...I mean...I GOT THEM!!! And they are Lovely!!

Wrapped in bubble wrap and peanuts!

And the eggs!!

Please hope for the best! We need all the positive vibes we can get...who knows where these babies have been, but they spent a long time on the road, but they're finally home!!

O.K. guys I've come out of the lurking stage.

I finally have something to post. This is my first hatch of Blue Copper Marans from Julie. 6 out of 7 have hatched.

Born 2-10,and 2-11-09

Being new to Marans does anyone know how to sex Blue Copper Marans,and what they are. I know you can get Blue Coppers,Black Coppers,or Splash from Blue Copper eggs. Any guesses?

I have 1 chick with some copper dots above it's eyes.Does it mean anything?

So far as I know -- which isn't much -- you can't sex the black/blue copper birds as baby chicks. That's one of the convenient things about wheatens.
