I can resell the chicks and get most of my money back, so I am not upset, more disappointed. I am a trusting person. I just expect that folks will honestly represent their stock. For the most part, that has been true. I just would never say that something was anything other than it is. Why risk a bad reputation, let alone be decietful. I will just hope this person is color blind and has a Marans egg chart in black and white.

There aren't many Marans in Maine that I have found. We are far from all the action. Plus the winters are brutal on their big long combs.

well that's good and yeah im the same way though I ask for pictures if they have them if not, I normally still buy but can be a little paranoid until i see the finished product. So far I haven't been disapointed yet but im sure someday I will be

What I see that bugs me is people just buy hatching eggs and then inbreeding their brother/sister chickens, most of which look like they should have been culls in the first place, and selling those hatching eggs for top dollar on ebay, eggbid, and *gasp* even here on BYC.

I'm not sure how relevant this rant is to the current mojo on this thread, but hey, you know I've been drinkin' some wine. I mean, c'mon...Napa Valley and all...yeah...I'm buzzed...so anyways...HI!

Yeah so like I was sayin' tho, there's people that do that.

And then there's other people that are actually *working* on their lines. Yeah, I kinda borrowd that line and the buzz word "working" from somebody else's post a while ago in this thread.

I guess it's just the way it goes, eh? Same with everything else that's cool...some do it for the passion, others do it for the dinero.

That's why i steer clear of ebay for marans, just never know...but ebay aside anyone can lie. Honesty is key as well as other peoples experience on the breeders birds and eggs i'd think.
