what color are the cockerels?? the ones i'm getting are going to be cuckoo and they're hatchery...
do you come out to vegas at all?? or do you need an excuse to?? and how much would you want for one if i decide it's what i want to do??

my husband is gonna disown me.. lol.. he still doesn't know the cuckoo's are coming.... or the eggs from nov egg swap... and yesterday he said.. "why are there duck eggs in teh incubator??? we do not need more ducks... " lol.. he doesn't care that the boys will be lonley.. he thinks the girls are ugly and only wants the drakes... lol...

but if i get a couple good marans i can make money from the eggs... yeah.. that's it...
i ssoo can not wait to get a roo and breed him with my lucy for olive eggers...

They are all Black Copper Marans. I am not the expert yet to say if they will be show quality or not. I just love how these birds look and even more the egg color they hatched out just wowed me.
Unfortunately, I just got back from Las Vegas a few weeks ago. But hey, San Diego has a lot to offer for you and your family (not only chickens ......). I am really looking forward to some nice dark eggs in my nest boxes next spring and maybe in the following generation to some olive eggers.

murphy's law huh.... unfortunatley, road trips are not in our budget... there's 5 of us on 1 income.... we have a little local play money, but not nearly enough for really fun out of town play...

but as far as show quality... ppfftt... i'm not sure they have shows in vegas??? well... there's shows.... with feathers... they just aren't on chickens.. and the breasts probly don't make good nuggets... lol...

my middle son wants to show a bird.. but if anything it would just be the local county fair.... we're going mostly for a fun egg basket... since you are fairly close we'll have to keep in touch just in case one of us or our friends (who really don't want to make road trips with chickens) are making the trip...

BTW: My apologies to the starter of this thread "drom". I know that the last few posts on here are not what you were asking for and I promise as soon as I get my camera back to work I will honor your request of photos of chicks, chickens and eggs. Like a lot of other Marans Lovers on here, they have carried me away..........
