Here's a young up and coming copper blue marans from Bev Davis lines. His father was a large, gentle bird with bumble foot and poor condition that never got better and tipped over this past week. Poor feller, uh huummmm... RIP Blue Boy, long live Blue Boy II. He is still quite young, even though he is showing a large frame already. Just heard him crow the other day, and he has made a few false starts to put his feet on their backs and look for a hunk o' nape to grab every now and then. Should be some fertile eggs in a month or so, less maybe if I am lucky. PLEASE excuse the pens. I rake them on Sunday and everyone is molting like CRAZY right now...

Ah, well there's plenty of people with Cuckoos, both silver and golden. Hopefully someone will see your post and present some pictures for you. I have no Cuckoos or I would post some pics

I'm guessing he is about five months old. I don't keep records. On a happy, shall I say VERY HAPPY note, I saw him tread a hen with "consumate" skill, pun intended. Of course, this happened after I just gave the neighbor a gorgeous dozen eggs, including six BD marans eggs, some with spectacular Wellsumer speckling! GAH!!! Oh well, not like I could go run to her back door and ask for them back. I guess I will check fertility tomorrow... Cross your fingers for me. There might be some eggs available sooner than I thought!
