Thank you Rusty and I do highly recommend the ScharffenBerger. I didn't know it was sold as far away as Oklahoma. The factory is in Berkeley, CA. But 60 Acres is in OK and knows about it.

I am having fun with my baby Marans. I have the brooder here in my office (I work out of the house) and there is one in particular that has decided it needs to watch me work. So it flies up and sits on the edge about every 15 minutes or so and stays there for another 5.
I have found a few "presents" on the floor when it doesn't place it's backend toward the brooder. I know I should put a lid on it, but it is so cute!
At this moment it has walked all the way over from the left to be about 1 & 1/2 feet from my face. Oops now I got the other end facing me. Hmmm better get a lid on there, my keyboard is pretty close to that Marans bottom.

I had one like that in my first clutch and she became my little buddy when she got older. She followed me all over the property when I was feeding the horses and gardening and when I sat down, she always jumped up and sat on my knee. She just liked to hang out with the humans.

That is a cool looking chick. What sturdy little legs it has and the color is great. What do the adults look like and I take it that the originals still exist? Do they lay a brown egg?
