It's too early for popcorn anyway......it just doesn't go well with my coconut flavored coffee.

I will try and answer......operative word....TRY.

This is what is says on the MCC on the Draft Color Standard for Black Copper (Brown-Red) Marans. It does not discuss a percentage.

Head: Copper (varying from mid-copper to red-copper).
Neck:
Hackle: Copper with a black-colored tip (spreading out almost down to the breast).
Front of neck: Copper.

Hold that thought.....l am going to look somewhere else that I think had some photos that showed a pullet with the correct neck..............................

You are great!

And Pink Chick--Where do you get coconut coffee??? MMmmmmmmm I have Hazelnut right now.

And now on topic.... The head can be copper too?

Off topic very quickly to answer Germaine's ?? Coconut coffee- whole bean in the bulk coffee section at Winco. Coconut Creme.

Back on topic now........I am still waiting on dial up to load where I am looking for that photo, so I can share the link.

In the mean time, here is my spoiled rotten little IsaBell, standing all squatty and stuff after shaking off the roo, I think she has good copper in her neck and yes her head is changing to all copper, kind a hard to tell in the pic but it is. She'll be 7 mos old 2-19-10.

Thanks!
The roo in the back is still feathering out some, this photo was taken about a month ago. He was just getting ready to jump up and roost on that branch. He is not so fluffed out now and looks alot better. He is a nice boy too. He along with my splash roo are the boys I am using right now. If all goes well your eggs will come from this pen. IsaBell is responsible for some of those nice dark eggs I am getting. One of her sisters that has too little copper is laying the darkest prettiest egg out of that pen.

I have watched this gal lay as well and yes it is nice and dark when layed until it dries.

If its just the bloom....shouldn't it wash off and then the egg remain the nice darker color that it is when "wet"?
Try as I may, I cannot remove any color from those eggs. I have been scrubbing on 2 of them for 3 days to try and remove that chalky stuff as we call it and nothing, nothing comes off and the egg dries right back to chalky. I can however with a little elbow grease remove the color from a BCM egg.
IDK why I keep bringing this up.....just find it interesting I guess.
