We have a fuzzy butt! It's one of 3chickens' chicks. Maybe we were off a day or two from when we thought they went in the bator? If that's the case, how bad is it if they went into lockdown on day 16 or 17? I normally keep better records, but it's been a little hectic around here since I started night classes.

So what does everyone keep the humidity at? I have the hardest time with my stupid LG. We are in the process of making a larger one I hope its done this weekend. It was supose to be done last weekend.

I did that once, only because I couldn't find the calendar that I had written the set date in. I had a round about idea of when they had been set and I knew it was getting close to lockdown, so I figured better safe than sorry and took them out of the turner, I think it was 2 days early. The hatch was ok......I remember that I had to help a couple of babies out and a few did not hatch, however, those that didn't hatch must have quit somewhere around day 10-12, not because they came out of the turner early.

I run my humidity at 40% and then raise it to about 60% during lockdown. Sometimes I cannot get the humidity up past 50% so I leave it, even with the Marans eggs and they did fine. With my last batch of Marans I was not able to get the hum. up so I left it around 48-50%, all but 2 of the Marans eggs did not hatch and only 1 Wellie egg didn't hatch.

i would like some advice on buying a incubator, i have a lg with forced air and turner . but not happy with it . so my question is , if u had 250.00 dollars to spend on a new one
what would it be ?
i would like one with forced air, and turner
i know 250.00 dollars is not much to work with but i am a poor carpenter from west virginia ,lol im kidding on the poor part of this story ,i am rich with my health and i am relatively happy with life and i have a wonderful (young young ) girlfriend who i would not trade for anything , that is ,,,unless u have a nice cabinet incubator !

Ok, so I have done a lot of research on tabletop models and have waited a ridiculous amount of time to buy one mainly because I am only going to hatch a very, very few chicks every year, but I want it to be easy and trouble free. So, it's not practical for me to spend a lot of money for the amount of hatching I will do but I want a decent incubator.

If you want auto everything, including digital temp control and auto humidity control, the RCOM Suro is the best deal. $249

There are two other models that provide digital temp control and humidity monitoring but no auto humidity control and those would be the RCOM 20 for $369 at JMT and the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance for $299 at the Brinsea site. To get the auto humidity control with the Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance and the RCOM 20 you will be spending $420 to $600+ respectively.

If you can do without that, and just want a good quality table top model that has air circulation, auto turning and holds the temp well, essentially the same features you would get with a good styrofoam incubator, you can get the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco on sale at the Brinsea site for $150 and who would buy a styrofoam incubator with auto turning and a fan for $150 when you can get a Brinsea for $150????

So I think the best deal on the table tops right now is the Suro 20 or the Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco
