By the way, those white wing tips are standard on most all of the chicks I have hatched from your eggs and most all of the lines I have hatched from. I did hear someone on BYC say they had never seen this before!

Hey Keith-

I've got at least 15 extra chicks. If you would like to have them they are yours... Or anyone else who may want them if Keith doesn't speak up. When I custom hatch for folks I usually set twice what I need... when they all hatch it is a different kind of problem.

You have a great looking rooster. There are so many BC roos out there that have straw/yellow in their hackles, it's impressive to see such a good example of one with all copper hackles.

Thanks, I am especially happy that he does not have the striping in his hackles that I see so much of. I love the consistency of the pullets in this flock too. They are all very dark egg layers (have been seeing some 8s W00T!) and they are just typy. The 40 chicks I got this hatch are vigorous and and the hatch rate was high 90%... so overall I am pleased with these birds.

There is, of course, always a kink to work out... but that's what makes it FUN!

Hello From PA ! ! I have been researching and preparing to raise chickens for a year and I have fallen in love with the Marans. I believe I will be ordering my first eggs this week. I have not made my decision where or who from yet. I am still deciding on that one. Since I can no longer wait to start Im sure ill decide soon.

What variety of Marans are you planning to get?

I only found two pullet eggs in the box today.

But they were nice, fat, glossy, red ones

I don't have a shade card, but I think they are about a 6.
The color and bloom are nice and bright.
