any day now on the hatch i placed feb 22 (monday night 8:00pm) so i guess tomarrow is close to hatch day for me , i uped the humidity to 56 , my only trouble is the power went out for around 30 min yesterday , hope it didnt mess the hatch ....

Hi,

I received some free chicks and cannot figure out what a couple of them are (they are all from a breeder so they should all be breed). I posted an "identification" thread and don't want to clutter up this forum, but I am starting to think that a couple of them might be Marans.

Here is the thread. Chick #2 and #4 are my suspects. Chick #2 has lightly feathered legs and chick #4 is beginning to show cuckoo markings. This breeder used to sell Marans and the person who gave me the chicks got a mixed bag of eggs.

I am sorry if this is an inappropriate post for this thread - I will remove it if it offends.

Ok, I got this Cockerel, he doesn't belong with me, but his egg got mixed in with some BCs that I got from Fitz Farms, he is a beaut, I just dont really know what he is, can anyone help?

He is pretty, 5 points, brown ears, feathered shanks, just dont know what to do with him.


He kinda stuck out like a sore thumb, so he got named "Cracker".

He is a SPLASH Marans

You can use him over your Black Coppers and get Blue Coppers. He's beautiful.

eta: he can come live at my house anytime if you find that he just rubs you the wrong way
