These are from Bev. Maybe someday we could swap some eggs! She's working on getting the egg color even darker, so anyone that gets eggs from her now will probably get even more color!

I would love swap eggs! At this time I am not planning on breeding right not but hopefully that will change because my neighborhood is not that roo friendly. But I have tried to convince my parents that it would be a good investment I am getting 6 or 8 chicks so hopefully I will have at least a nice trio of Blue Black Splash Marans they hatched from dark eggs which seem great.

those eggs are beauties

Sure wish my Cuckoo Marans were laying they are reaching 16 weeks now. One of the cockrells is trying his best to crow and once in awhile it does sound fairly good. Most of the time sounds like someone grabs him by the throat in mid crow

The other day I collected eggs and got 1 pink, 1 lt tan and 1 brown and 1 white???? My Buff's I know gave me the tan and the pink and my RIR gave me the brown, but for the life of me can not figure out who layed the white one and it was a bit bigger than the others. Sorry I didn't get a photo of it was in the last dozen I gave to the neighbors. Anyone got any thoughts? You don't suppose it was one of the 10 Marans Pullets do you? I believe 2 of them are a Bar cross because they have yellow on their legs. At what age do they generally start to lay?

So I contacted the lady I got the chicks from and she says she's still pretty sure there are 3-4 pullets in the group. She also said that if I do end up with all boys she'll ship me some pullets from her next hatch! Hopefully she's not saying that just to appease me and will actually hold up her end of it.
