You know, I think cockerels are very much like baby donkeys when they first crow. When little donkeys first bray they don't really get it right at first. It's so funny and sounds, yes, very pathetic when they are first learning how to bray.

Hey,
If anyone in California has any Cuckoos they would like to show, Angi Harrover needs a rooster and two cockerels for the Fresno and Stockton, CA shows. They need to be the feather shank. This would contribute to the count on the Cuckoos for the APA recognition. I think she also needs help setting up a table for the Marans. She is on the Marans_Chicken_Club forum.

So do you all remember those hideous #1 and 2 Copper blue Marans I got from ebay that I threw in the trash?

Here are the ones I had been waiting for. They are late in the laying cycle. Half are Copper Blacks. The breeder sent 15. They are HUGE!

They make my wellie eggs look like bantams.

wow, so sorry about the trash episode, but it was SUCH a good move to toss them and take your lumps and wait for good eggs! Can you imagine how much money you would have dumped into that line of birds, feed, labor, facilities, acquiring another dark gened roo, crossing your fingers, raising more chicks, culling, waiting, feeding, cleaning... hoping... or just go buy some good eggs. GOOD for you! Those look awsome. Who did you get them from?

Onthespot, I would have gone to my grave trying to get them to this color. I wish that person would stop selling them. People are getting ripped off.

I got these from Suzanne Osio. She is Sterlingsue on the Yahoo group. Her Copper Blue eggs this summer looked like 7-8s. Her Copper Blues are from Bev.

I am waiting for Richard to send me his Copper Blacks, then I am done for the winter. I have really pushed this......We are going to be living with chooks inisde all winter.
