Post deleted, I have seen this very recently on a Marans site, but could not locate it just now. I think as previously posted ? Marans of America Club?

Here is this morning's hatch. First half of phase 2, of my mega-hatch! (Next weekend is phase 3.)
There are Delawares, Jersey Giants, Blue Marans, Olive Eggers, Lavender Orp projects, and a Silkie or two. Tomorrow should be a big batch of Marans!

My BCM from Greenfire Farm's Davis line are only 2.5 weeks old and two of them have redder combs and are starting to show coppering around their necks. Is that normal? It's unbelievable how fast these chicks grow and eat! The feathered legs are so great.

female?

These are my first BCMs and two of the four 2.5 week olds are starting to show small copper feathers already around their necks. I don't know if that's expected or not and am wondering if it indicates that these two are males since they have the redder combs.

I have never seen so much feathering as in that first picture! WOW! The French standard calls for, "sparse feathering," I believe.

I don't know how feathering changes as they grow up, but I love the feathering anyway! These chicks are so quiet, low key and friendly. They are growing unbelievably fast. Two have darker eyes than the other two, but I'm not sure how much eye color changes as they grow. They seem as friendly as our buff orpington. We love them!

Is there a way to open the 2nd two pix? They are coming up as question marks.

Here is a picture of my largest Roo at different stages

At 2 weeks:

Here is the same Roo at 3 weeks when I started to put them out in the day:

Here he is at 5 weeks:

In terms of how quickly they have matured, I can't really compare them to anything else since I am new to chickens. I will say though that I was really surprised at how early I was able to sex them. I knew what they were by the beginning of the 2nd week and I always thought it took about a month to be able to tell. I ended up with 3 Pullets and 3 Roos.
