Here are my first hatching eggs that arrived today. Now in the bator. They are also my first BC Marans as well. Thought these eggs had a pretty decent color for nearly the middle of June? Wish me luck!

Hope you didn't put the eggs in incubator as they shoud rest for 10-12 hours before going into the incubator.

Eggs were rested for 9 1/2 hours. I've seen threads saying anywhere from 8-12 hours, so I'm hoping I'm ok here!

yeah, i'm mostly just after the eggs. i'm really wondering because i'm planning on breeding these two so i have more dark eggs to sell, as well as breeding him to a few of my Araucanas and EEs for some nice olive eggs. i'm just trying to get a better idea of what kind of birds to expect, but it doesn't particularly matter if they are black instead of Wheaten (other than that I prefer Wheaten, personally!).

Thanks! I will most definately post pics of the chicks, hopefully, in 20 days! The eggs seem fine, hope I can hold up!

i wish my wheaten marans would lay that dark,,but it takes time improving egg color ... i have some pullets comeing to age at 8 months old and it could be another month befor i see the egg color of my first generatrion crossing,,,,,breeding chickens and trying to improve egg color takes just as much time as bonzi ..............ya work for years for verry little progress !,,,,,,by the way if ever u get the chance to visit the national arboreedummmmmm (place in Dc with trees/plants) it is very cool the bonzi exhibit is great
