I think #2 & #5 are roos. I am no expert but based on my 4 BCMs, two have small yellowish combs and two have red larger combs. The ones with the redder larger combs have more coppering coming in and their black feathers are turning bluish green. My "roos," however, are smaller than the girls but also hatched about over a day later. Mine are younger than yours but the presumed boys really do seem different than the presumed girls.

I think I got a good deal the other day. I called the person that I had purchased my first trio of blue splash from because a coon had killed my rooster and one of my hens. I asked him if he had any splash babies and he said some were hatching right then. I loaded up the family and off we went. When I got there, he had 8 that were hatched and dry. From looking at them there seems to be several pullets. Here is the good deal, when I asked him how much he said he would let me have them for a dollar each. WOW. I bought all 8 and have been grinning ever since, because I already knew these were from nice birds. I think I did pretty well on this. He also showed me his incubator (holds 2500 eggs) and several hundred of his other chicks. Was a lot of fun.

Here are the little blue coppers and 1 splash copper that I kept for the breeding pen.....sadly I think 3 of them will be moved to the laying flock because their eyes are looking too dark. They are a orangy color just very dark. They are 3 mos. old.

Okay, it's been a while since I posted. The boys are filling in... If you HAD to choose between these two, who would you keep? As you can see, one has a much darker copper color but he has LOTS of green and is extremely "shiny." Is this undesirable?

so far I like the one with the most copper... The other one looks to dark, however If I had hens that were too dark I could use that rooster on them... both could be useful.
