My March 13th BCMs are growing into beautiful little chickens. Except for that one cockerel who is downright ugly colored.....he managed to avoid the camera too, guess he knows it!!

This is Fence, a BCM pullet ---- except she's almost 100% black. She has the heaveiest leg feathering

The other two look like twins:

And these are a couple of my better looking BCM cockerels.

Malcolm is handsome. how old is he?

Malcom is a little over one year old. We got him from a farm last year that was overrun with roosters!

Don't give up on the gal that is not showing any copper...... if she came from Black Copper parents she can still have the gene hiding in there and can still be useful in a breeding program with an overly red roo.

I see the starting of some copper coming in on those boys' shoulders and saddle feathers.

Isn't it amazing how fast some show the copper and others show it many many months later.

Thank you for sharing them Tala!

Hello Everyone!!!!
Last year I hatched 3 different breeds together in the same incubator.......all were B/B/S (not too smart......but I was totally new to raising chickens then). As they hatched I lost track of who was who....I didn't band or mark them ( I remedied that this year by using those latex leg bands). Anyway, I have 3 roos and a hen that I'm not sure which breed they are. I had 3 different breeds in there....Marans, Orpingtons and Jersey Giants.......all in B/B/s as I had previously mentioned. I'm posting a pic of one of the "mystery" roos that I believe to be a Marans (several other people seem to think so too). Any opinions or suggestions??!
Thanks!!!!!
Kathy

Hello Jessica Rabbit!!!
Thanks for your reply...it's truly appreciated!! Although I really wasn't sure I thought he might be a Blue Marans(not a Copper Blue). He doesn't seem to be Orpington in type.......or JG either. But I could be torally wrong. Thanks so much for the link!!! I'll definitely have to check it out!!!

Hi There halo!!!
Again, thanks for taking time to respond!! I think the Blue Marans come in both clean-legs and feathered legs. I'm posting a pic of a Splash Jersey Giant hen that was from the same hatch.....she's humongous(and very sweet). No denying that she's a Giant. This roo just doesn't seem to be of that "type"......plus, she's already bigger than he is.
Thanks To You Both!!!!!
Kathy
