Here's my newest baby, a Black Copper that was hatched on the 4th of July.

Eggshell color is a bit darker than what it appears in the photo, the flash washed it out some.

Feathered feet are so cute!

Sorry!

Give him some more time....he can still change. Sometimes you can get a bird that doesn't copper out as fast as others and sometimes you can also get a bird that carries the copper gene but not show any signs of copper.

Congratulations Urban!!!!

Did you only hatch one????? I hope not...cuz that one is looking a little roo-ish.

Also....this baby looks like he could be blue or is it just me and my monitor again????

You're now the second person who's told me it already looks like a little roo! That can't be! I won't be able to keep him, if he is a him.

And yes, it was my only Black Copper to hatch so all of my hopes are riding on this one little baby. L0L. What makes you think it's a boy?

It looks black to me, I was hoping for a blue, it came out of a pen that had Blue Coppers and Splash as well. I dunno, maybe it's a dark, dark, dark blue? I dunno though...

I just didn't want to tell him. I was waiting for you to go first!

Sorry Jeremy.

Why though? Are BCM feathered differently as male and female chicks? Is it the feather development that it has so far?

Or ...?

*sigh*

I guess there's always next year!

The comb is quite telling first off. Second would be the thick legs (feet). Those were my clues.

Hey, you could always use him with Easter Eggers, and make some nice little Olive Eggers.
