Call Ducks,

I'm no expert here, and no broody here either, but here's my two cents anyway

I would think it would depend on how much time you can spend watching the incubator, and is it trustworthy? Also, are these broody hens "proven" to hatch out a clutch, or are they first timers? Will they be good mothers to the chicks? If they are good, proven broodies, then I'd say let them do it. But if there is any doubt, I would hatch them in the bator. Me, personally, think I would use the incubator anyway. Kind of a control freak with things like that!

Just my opinion, I'm sure others with more experience will chime in. Good luck either way you go!

will i can not rember if they have hatched any thing out or not, that being said they are almost 3 years old so they may have. the hova is semi trust worthy i guess. (pre set thermometer ) it is late in the year for hatching and i am thinking if i let the hen hatch them off she will take care of them until they are reedy and she goes back up to the barn. They would hatch in late August so it would be September be for they are one month old, so i think the hen would be the best option to keep them warm in the fall.

Hey guys and gals,

I have a question about the "clubs" for the breed. In the dog world, there has to be a "parent club" that is recognized by the AKC as the "go to" source for the particular breed, especially when it comes to SOPs. Is it this way with chickens too? If so, which club is going to be the parent, and represent the Marans breed for the APA? Without getting into politics here, which one will be supported by the APA? Is one going to be supported by France, and another by the APA? Seems like all of the clubs should be on the same page if approval is going to ever get achieved, as I would think that would be the main goal here for all involved. What say you all? PM me if this is a touchy subject and not something you want to write about in the forum, thanks.

's... It worked. She is doing well.... When it gets a little brighter out I will take a pic... She is an amazing hen...

The warm bath slowed down the cramping/contracting and then I put her in a soft nest of straw back in her private quarter and she rested comfortably through the night and was eating well this morning... I thing we are out of the woods... Thanks all... You guys are ROCK STARS....
