Marans Thread for Posting Pics of Your Eggs, Chicks and Chickens

My Black Copper Marans have finally started laying. (I was once adeledamate and have now become organicvegan511) Yeah! They are small but I think they are beautiful!! Some of Donna's (In Norco) babies.

Look at how dark it is. I'm so excited. They have been getting darker and darker.

We've named them; Donna (the one with the most red), Black Betty (the one in the middle), Marge (the one in the back) and Verna (the bossy one in the front) Donna was the first to lay and is the kindest of the bunch.

nice egg ! I never posted the picture of my cuckoo marans eggs here it is this is from the middle of the laying cycle.

Those eggs are way darker and I can't wait to get my BBS copper marans and get them growing and then laying eggs like yours !

hcammack - Nice variety, I love the Easter basket combo of eggs like that! I especially like the speckled egg!

Hi, I am thinking about getting a Cuckoo Marans in my spring chick order. I have a couple of questions...

First, I checked on the My Pet Chicken website, it said that Marans are not especially docile, nor are they winter hardy. Do you have any personal experience with this?

Also, What experience do you have with egg color from ordering Marans chicks from hatcheries (Especially Meyer Hatchery and MPC)?

I posted on your thread andy my marans are from meyer although the new ones I am getting are from will marrow and wade geane both great breeders

I know it's not a Marans, but I was so tickled that I finally got one to hatch, can I share?? Check out the tufts on this little Araucana! I'm not sure what color it's going to be as an adult, but BLUE is my favorite and it's adorable!
