The PDF states that the ban is for poultry and poultry products. I didn't read the entire thing so I am not sure which diseases they believe are transferred through the hatching eggs.

I think everyone knows you were kidding....some of us here (like me) are just information addicts

You've gotta be careful when you "joke" about such a serious subject. You never know what ideas you might give people, or who might be listening!

Secondly, bird flu is NOT transferred through eggs.

Actually, avian influenza CAN infect eggs. Look here:

http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/avfluqa.html

"AI also can be found on the outer surfaces of egg shells and in the case of HPAI, can infect the inside of the egg which includes the yolk and albumen or the egg white. Transfer to eggs is a potential means of AI transmission."

I bought 7 6-wk-old Black Copper Marans chicks off eggbid!!! They're supposedly from W. Jeane lines and came out of eggs that were 7-8 on the scale. You never really know, but they'll be here Thursday! I got them at a reasonable price (considering what they are), so I'll just keep my fingers crossed until they start laying.

That'll give me a head start on the ones in the bator!

Thanks, they're all grown up now and they're real beauties.

Oooo. I love that print in your avatar. You will like this website I'll bet. It's one of my favorite sites!

http://www.bloodlines.net/TB/

I like it too. It's my 2nd fave breed, an Arabian (my first is an American Showhorse (Arabian/saddlebred cross) and Saddlebreds are tied for 2nd).

So if you like Arabs, that site has the images of the really famous paintings of many of the Arab foundation sires behind TB bloodlines from the 18th century; Darley Arabian, Byerley Turk, Goldolphin etc.... they are such beautiful paintings.
