OK I see them! I couldn't find them at first. Cute as bugs ears!!!! Very exciting. So you have 2 chicks hatched so far?

I think peachick has hatched more because I don't have a bator she is hatching her own birds eggs for me. I think she has hatched at least 4-6 of them she had 16 eggs all looking good on day 18 and she said their were 2-4 left to go when I emailed her. I can't wait to pick them up LOL I just wanted to show them off to you.

Here is the link so its easier to find they are on the bottom of the second page

Drom, what I feed my roosters... sit down and hold on to your seat. It is Purina Start 'N Grow medicated feed. Period. Then when the pullets began to lay, I offered Purina Laying Pellets. I free feed both in deep feeders with a sharp chunk of irregular metal in the middle that discourages (to say the least) dust bathing in the food. I prevent them from dust bathing in the food ever since they are babies, and when they are adults i can free feed them by the bucket full in a heavy cast cooking pot and they hardly waste a single pellet! Same for the crumbles. Those are fed up on a plywood den box (another long story, the wolf is no longer in there,) and there is hardly any waste, and any that does get flicked out, they pick it up off the plywood. I feed the "fines" to the silkies, which I consider my "junk birds" and they get whatever they get. They are used to it so the polish it off all the way. The marans always have first pickin's off the food, them and the mille x cochins. The pure mottleds get the mille x fines, and the silkies get the marans fines. Somehow everyone gets enough to eat and no food gets wasted. And THAT is my super duper system.... Hope it helps someone.

Thanks! you know, I think I blew it with chick starter. I had them on it through the 8th week and they were developing really well and then this guy in the feed store told me to take them off the starter and put them on all purpose. He said they don't need the starter past 6 weeks. Well I realized a few weeks later he was wrong so then I added the game bird and seed and they have put on some really nice weight.

But I guess my big question is, how long do you keep young birds on the starter? It sounds like kept your cockerels on it?

Henry, I visited your web site-you've got a nice little business going there.

Your birds look very happy and healthy as well. I'll bet your eggs are delicious. I really like the pink ones. I wish I had a pink egg layer. One of these days I will get myself one.

THanks Drom people are weird enough to pay big $ for eating eggs of diffrent colors when they are free range and that why I am adding more Marans and Ameraucana.

I was getting $6 a dozen when they were laying and could not keep everybody up with eggs ! The delewares or Faverolles are the ones that lay the pink eggs.
