I think I know why they waited so long, they've been fat and sassy for months, but they're spoiled brats! I've combed the posts on the right nutrition, snacks, etc...getting things rights for them. A couple of months ago we had "the skunk" predator in my pet yard, so there was an "emotional setback" then there was the "coop updside down" and they all got upset, so several weeks for everyone to settle down...now EGGS!!
They are really dark, the flash doesnt do them justice - I am proud of them for my first cuckoos before I knew anything about them - Not up to Black Copper/Quality Lines, but I can be happy with this little backyard flock.
I still plan to pursue suitable breeding stock of Blue Marans, Wheatens, and additional Black Coppers, and Golden Cuckoos (When the market stabilizes and the birds are about them again)........
