Well you can hobble them. I have tied their a few inches apart. Just so they can still walk but can't balance themselves, if they step out of bounds.

These are fighting birds and yes they will turn on the owner as well as each other. I wouldn't have it any other way. And the more french blood they have in them the worse they are. Which would only make since
But oh what a joy those eggs are.

I have some Blue and Black Copper Marans cockerals from Peachick and Will Marrow's stock I am not expecting to high of a price so make an offer. I am not sure about shipping. The lines are Wade Jeane and Mari Kreb. These birds hatched from nice dark eggs and you can see them on Peachicks flicker page. They would make a great contirbution to any Marans flock.

Hey... just found this thread and decided to post some pictures of my Golden Cuckoo and their eggs. The eggs are about mid point in the laying cycle so are good representives... not the darkest or the lightest.

We got our 1st confirmed cuckoo marans egg yesterday

Noah brought it in and said " it tis the season for cuckoo marans eggs Grandma" took photo has freckles like a couple of Tina's, will post pic later sorry I have been down this sinus crud

I think I know why they waited so long, they've been fat and sassy for months, but they're spoiled brats! I've combed the posts on the right nutrition, snacks, etc...getting things rights for them. A couple of months ago we had "the skunk" predator in my pet yard, so there was an "emotional setback" then there was the "coop updside down" and they all got upset, so several weeks for everyone to settle down...now EGGS!!

They are really dark, the flash doesnt do them justice - I am proud of them for my first cuckoos before I knew anything about them - Not up to Black Copper/Quality Lines, but I can be happy with this little backyard flock.

I still plan to pursue suitable breeding stock of Blue Marans, Wheatens, and additional Black Coppers, and Golden Cuckoos (When the market stabilizes and the birds are about them again)........
