Don't be sad Belinda, More will come. I dropped two at the same that were darker than these. But when they do watch out. Oh buy the way I started feeding calf manna from last Sat and my egg production jumped up with in 2 days.

My chickens all go completely bug-NUTS for any kind of horse feed, especially in pellet form. They seem to particularly love the senior feed that Misha eats.

Ruth! Beautiful egg!

Okay, so I finally got around to taking a few pics of this week's hatchlings. I also added a few more for your viewing pleasure.

The first little nipper from this week's hatch, blinded by the light of my flash. Poor angel. He came before the humidity took a dive and almost mummified the rest of the hatch.....

Some of Jesse B's birds, almost grown up. They are almost 4 months and eat like oxen.

And finally, one of our funny little Millies escaped and flew atop the coop last evening. I had to get a ladder and get him down, when it was clear at dark he wasn't coming down by himself. All our chickens are afraid of the snow! None of them will come out of the coop!

OMG Jen, he is just too adorable!! Is he still so sweet? He was definitely hard to part with but just too many roos

. His 2 brothers are still very nice(the third, Red, is looking for a new home

, won't leave those poor girls alone). Did you end up getting any girls for him? Thanks for the pic.

I have a quick question. My 2 Davis roos are about 9 weeks and have a wave to their comb. Any chance they can grow out of it?

SF those are breathtaking pics! I love Mille's, such personality, but a teeny bit nuts. The only Roo I have right now is Mr. Frizzy, my Frizzled Roo, so it's a risk that any offspring would be frizzled like daddy too! That Coop top pic is a money shot!

I really need to get it together and get some "real" birds and eggs from you guys, or get recommendations on which breeder is best to work with for eggs around February. I'm on Bev's list, but you all know how that is? I want to start my flock this upcoming year. I've had Marans for a year now, but I want to introduce better lines sooner!

My current Marans are such great pets, but none are going to meet the upcoming APA standards (mine are clean legged, my BC roo has 2 white feathers), I so want to be a part of promoting the real deal, besides having the ooooooh so dark eggs!!!

Oh, I love having the ooooohhh so dark eggs.....you all captivate me with your dark eggs....I keep mine in the fridge for weeks...I have such a hard time letting them go...I may make ornaments out of my speckled ones!! I made wall paint out of that recent dark one! Yup, nuts!!

WoW, Jen. Those are all great shots. How do you like your pentax? I'm a nikonian, but am very impressed with your pentax pics!
I love the shot of Tristan coming in the door. He is the "man with a master plan" in that shot!
I ended up with 7 little cuckoo butts out of 11-Kelly Cratty line.
I will post pics, soon

Hey funny you guys would mention that. Just yesterday when I was feeding the horses, it occurred to me that the chickens might like some LMF Senior. But they weren't interested! Calf Manna sounds like a great way to supplement protein with these guys.

On another topic, everyone has eggs but me! Does anyone really think this is fair? I don't. Where can I file a complaint?

This is totally unacceptable.

I thought Stuart was a weathervane until I noticed he was crowing in one picture and not in the other
