If you want some Davis-line birds, why don't you try Richard. His eggs were so nice this year. You might not have quite the wait

Hey funny you guys would mention that. Just yesterday when I was feeding the horses, it occurred to me that the chickens might like some LMF Senior. But they weren't interested! Calf Manna sounds like a great way to supplement protein with these guys.

On another topic, everyone has eggs but me! Does anyone really think this is fair? I don't. Where can I file a complaint?

This is totally unacceptable.

Calf manna is actually RECOMMENDED as a supplement for Seramas. It's a great protein addition.

I think Richard has a bit of a waiting list, now. The birds aren't laying as much and word has gotten out how wonderful his eggs are.

I have to thank him, though. I just received my 12 and they were double boxed and thoroughly bubble wrapped and JUST STUNNING. I see why he won 1st place at the Ohio show! I was shocked to receive them today with the winter blast happening up in that area. Thank you Richard!

We had a couple of eggs this year from our first year hens, but they became broody after the first dozen or so were laid. My husband and I gathered eggs daily but they still became broody and even sat in the same nesting box (together) at the same time every day for almost a month.

Anyway, here is our complete family - we hope to have more this year especially considering we didn't know we had purchased two roos when we thought they were hens

They have arrived! My pair of BCM from Greenfire farms. They are birds from Bev's line and are looking very healthy. Here is a pic of them in quarantine.

Wow Chef - those are some super super dark eggs! Where did you get them if you don't mind me asking? Your pair is good looking although they have that look of "What happened - where am I?"

Wow, those are some good looking eggs, greenfire farms hu?
I am on Bev's waiting list for some eggs, hoping for this spring:fl
I just chased my little black copper cockeral all over the #$%# in the whipping windy snow.
I am freezing and wet, I don't know why he didn't want to come in, he could not have been having a good time.
They like the snow and all, they love to run around in it, but they have never experinced this type of storm and it was getting dark and I was worried.
I finally got them all in, but I find these black copper marans to be tough little guys and one of the pullets gave me a hard time about going in.
All of the other hens of different breeds were more than happy to be shooed in.
I had 39 of them out free ranging when the storm hit quick.
I gave them some bowls of hot mash and extra food and water and one of those flock blocks, (I love those things, 25 lbs of food compressed into a nice little block) since I am afraid we will be doing some shoveling tomorrow morninig in order to get to the coops and those marans like to eat..alot.
But anyway, like I was saying, those little bcm cockerals are little hooligans. Gotta love how cute they are.

Man...no wonder they are $75/6 eggs! Still too rich for my blood...esp with the shipping variable. Someday, I will have eggs like that

Hey guys thanks for the coments. The pair is from greenfire farms, and the eggs are from bayhorsebonnie in Ca. I'm in Ca as well and I went and picked the eggs up directly from her. They probably are thinking "where the heck am I" lol, at least it's toasty and there eating like champs. They got here yesterday so only a couple more days and I can put them out. TTYL.
