How old do they have to be to show them? Mine are only 2 months old right now, so I was just wondering how much longer until I can enter them.

My marans, welsummers, and ameraucana have been outside with a light and the silkie girl since I got them its gotten pretty cold here to and they are very hardy birds! I got them at 8 weeks and they are now 12 weeks old.

Officially, they should be at least 6 months. But nobody checks birthdates, so as long as the birds look mature you are pretty much good to go.

We will be participating in shows throughout the year, so yours will be old enough for lots of showing in the coming months!

Here are my newly hatched Black Marans.

Ok, sounds good. I wonder if they would be old enough for the Feb. show in Tampa. They'd only be about 3.5 months then though. I've never shown before...how do I go about the required testing and all that?

Probably not February -- I think that would be pushing it too far. Perhaps March or April, if they mature quickly.

I don't know specifically about Florida shows, but in general they will be set up to do testing at the show site. Check with the show's organizers!

Ok, I hope they add some more shows then. There aren't any on the site close by after Feb., but I guess it will be updated later.
