So cute!
On Sat I went and picked up 5 BC chicks hatched on Wed they are way to cute.
I also have 6 week old b/c that Im trying tofigure out hens from roo's . Well pretty sure out of 11 I only have 4 hens (one might not be) and the rest roos. So sad
So Im keeping my fingures crossed
that some of the chicks will be hens.
Also have some eggs in a great friends inc. so hope hope hope I get some hens.
But hay in a few months will have some really nice roos looking for good homes.

I hope you have good luck on the pullet vs roo ratio too....some of mine surprised me with early comb development, and turned out to be pullets...whew!
Right now I have such a Marans Hodge Podge! And I am expecting to add to the mix! I just cant resist the Marans!
I lost a couple of my Whitmore Black Copper Marans chicks over Easter Weekend - They got smooshed when the outside warming light went out - and the mass of teens piled toghter to stay warm...the Whitmore chicks were a bit smaller and it was a "dogpile" on top of them..a few didnt make it...darn it.......It dipped pretty low that weekend.
So - I have my Cuckoo Marans Pen - Mr. Cuckoo and his ladies - the teens, Eenie, Meenie, and Minie, (Moe fell in the water tub)...
Black Copper Marans - BC and his four ladies are in their pen with their Easter Egger lady friend.....
4 Black Copper Marans chicks and 1 Blue Copper Marans Rooster Chick from Whitmore Farms.....
4 Black and 1 Blue Cuckoo Marans chicks from BumbleBee Hills chickenfarm
On the Way today: Golden Cuckoo Marans Eggs from Nivtup -
Coming Soon: Splitting an order of Wheaton Marans with a local person - expecting 5+ for me!
And then, theres the mix - I have baby Olive Eggers - BC has been busy! I have baby Black Copper/Easter Egger mix chicks, and they are CUTE!!! Pea Combs, Willow Legs, and Fluffy Brown Bodies! I cant wait to see what happens with these puffballs!!
Marans and Dark eggs Rock!
I think, if I ever hatch after this
and want more Marans.....I may just ask here...you all have the best anyhow, and I dont want "name brand" anyhow....ya'll are putting out the most beeoootifuullyyy lovely eggs I ever see! I wonder if my next generations will do anywhere as well? Uh oh, I'm going to get egg anxiety again.....
I got my first coppers on sat 3 hens and 2 roos. They are between 1 and 2 months old. I can not wait for my first egg. I will be getting cuckoos in Aug. They stayed under the heat lamp so the pics are kinda bright. Should i change the bands on thier legs every couple of weeks as they grow or more often.

in some eggs you may see a bunch of nothing... (too dark). I am only really able to notice anything right around hatching time I am able to start seeing the air cell a little bit enough to see that I thikn theres chicks in them otheriwse im in the dark when it comes them.
Is their combs more smooth than pointy? And my roo had more yellow in his face. I don't know if the different lines of BC's have any differences in coloring marks on the newborns faces. That's just what I found with mine. Your's look like little girls to me! Post some more pics of them in a couple of weeks, I'd like to see if they develope any prominant points! LOL (Hope not, I know you want girls)LOL
