TF, LOL! Those are my 17 yo dd's hands. She's all of 5'1 and 97 lbs. We don't know how that happened here! You'd understand better if I showed you a pic of DH and me, but that ain't gonna happen!

To make matters funnier, she's dating a guy that's 6'6.

But those marans are also pretty healthy little chicks, just hope they're girls!

CUTE Chicks, MommaHen! They look very healthy! My guess is both pullets... but just a guess. Love your coop, by the way!

An update on our hatches today: Only 1 chick hatched so far... I also have one (of 6 in the bator) Salmon Faverolles egg that has pipped (at 10am) but hasn't progressed any further along. I can hear it cheeping though, so I'm holding out hope that it's taking it's SWEEEEEEET time hatching. Nothing else in the bator showing any hatching signs yet... poo. I'll keep on waiting.

So, anyone like to take a guess as to what my little Golden Cuckoo is -- pullet or cockerel? I know the Goldens can be sexed by color, but without anything to compare this one to, I'm left guessing.

Here's a pic, through the *freshly cleaned* plastic window of the bator at noon today. Oh, and to the question of whether or not I boosted the humidity for the hatch, yes I sure did!!

That's a great photo, SweetMissDaisy! I've never managed to get one half as nice as that through my condensation-soaked, scratched plastic windows.

How'd you clean the window? I was thinking next time I might stick a couple little magnets on each side of the windows, with a little piece of rag or something over the inside magnet.

Hopefully the others are just taking their time. It happens.

edit: oh, I see you're quite the photography savant. Now I don't feel so bad.

Just to clarify, I didn't clean the inside of the window (well, I did before I set the eggs, but not since then), just the outside of the window. Today to clean the outside, I used a bit of water on a paper towel, and just wiped it clean and then wiped it dry so there weren't any water droplets on the plastic.

I sure hope more babies hatch.... but you know, I'm not going to get my hopes too high. Although, this one chick will be MIGHTY expensive if it's the only one I get to hatch! SHEESH!

I've got 8 Golden Cuckoos, 6 Salmon Faverolles, and 7 Lemon Blue Cochin eggs in the bator... come on BAAAAAABIES!!

I had a rough time candling last week. I had a tough time and I didn't want to take too long with each egg, so I just left them all in the bator. Everything still smells nice and clean, so perhaps even though some of the eggs didn't develop, maybe others are doing ok. We'll see.

Preferably i only want 1 hen .. 1/2 chance female .. 1/2 chance male soo with a 50% hatch rate after shipping 4 would be great

and dont worry ill let her grow up with another baby when she hatches but ill have to get rid of the other one once the maran gets old enough to hang out with the older gals because im 1 under the city limit
