Pretty birds and what fun they are having! The colors are beginning to show nicely on your BC Cockeral....the changes as they grow are so interesting to see develop. Thanks for the pics!

Here's pics of my two clean legged Cuckoo Cockerels. I can only keep one and need help deciding who is the best one to keep.

Both together - Well call Roo #1 the one on the left.

The hens are starting to get in their copper coloring as well it's just hard to pick up in the pics

JUST a week ago both the roos were smaller and had less color its AMAZING how fast they are growing now! IMO they are slow growers (least mine are) but now that they're almost laying age they're really starting to fill out. Boots needs to fill out a lot more he's working on it though

It can actually take a year for them to mature for type and color that's why its important to hold back your cockerels as long as you can(can put up with crowing..the squabbles..the harassing of the hens...(0: )

What a gorgeous bunch of girls and guy! I love their new saddles and that tractor is my envy! My DH is finishing up my new coop for the EE's today and I've told him that I need one for the Marans, but he's petered out...soooo I've been looking at tractors to consider something that I myself can build...I dunno if I have the mad skillz needed to do this but I'm seriously going to give it a go.

crowing is fine (Boots just started the other day and he only crows when locked up other wise hes quiet as a mouse) and he sounds like he's going through human puberty whenhe does it

I am so bummed!! I had put a dozen BC Marans under my broody, four I put in the incubator. The four I put in the incubator had scrambled yokes. I had been afraid of that because the eggs were shipped in a Priority Box that had no markings what-so-ever on it to indicate the contents were fragile much less alive.

To bad because the eggs were packaged great and none were even cracked, yet I was still worried.

So I wasn't surprised about the four, however I had hopes that at least some of the dozen under the broody would be ok. About 6 days ago she tossed one egg out of the nest. I was excited because I thought that maybe the others were ok. Wow 11 babies, I was very excited.

But turns out the only egg she hatched was one she laid and when I broke open all the eggs they were all scrambled. No BC Marans, I was so hoping for some girls to put with my boy from Jeanie.

I hope I hope...but I figure if I did it this way that I would keep the best and toss the rest LOL.... Have some really nice roos...And yes have about 12 eggs shipping as we speak..
