Hello everyone,

I wanted to post new pictures I took of my BCM hens they are 5 1/2 months old I just got my first egg the other day! They are Bev Davis lines. I bought 4 chicks and they sent me an extra and they all turned out to be hens!! So I have no roo old enough for them yet to hatch eggs.

They don't have alot of copper do they get more as they get older or are they done getting the copper on their necks?

Those don't have much copper at all... you would need to cross them on a "coppery" roo to get more copper in your line if what I have read is correct. Choose a rooster with more copper on his breast, sort of like this one. He is for sale, by the way...

I would ship. I never have before. he is a very nice roo. No "attitude" at all. Right now he is in a pen with month old chicks and half grown silkies and doesn't bother them at all! He is a good boy, I just have a lot of "copper" in my line now, thanks to him, and have to start breeding the other way now. He is a very prolific breeder without being a macho boy. You will really like him when you meet him. PM sent.

here is a copper splash pullet I hatched from eggs I got from bishopschickens. He says that she is from Bev Davis lines. She is VERY gentle and full bodied, full feathered girl. I wish like CRAZY she was a rooster!

I love to oohhh and aaahhh over all the Marans.

I have chicks in wheaten, BC and cuckoo.
I didn't think I would like the cuckoos as much. But then they started laying! OMG! I adore the egg color from these girls. Super nice. Not the same shade as my wheatens or BC but still nothing to sneeze at.

And looking at all the photos of you guys grown Marans, I am excited for my chicks to grow up. I love the hatching and seeing what they look like as chicks but then they grow up into such beauties.

My eggs came! One was busted but the others are fine, I bought 6 GCM and she included four spares, three CB and one W. Yay.... Now if I can just get them hatched...

Marans eggs are gorgeous even if it was actually the Roos that sold me on the breed. Just a gorgeous chicken breed. Figures I would fall in love with the breed and not the fad and the eggs. LOL. Still can't have chickens without eggs and they are amazing eggs.
