Oh ya I remember that day! I was so stoked to see that dark colored egg on the light shavings

They are between 4 and 5 months old. I have been waiting impatiently for my first egg.

I wish I had your roo with the nice black breast towards the front of your first picture. It's hard to find ones without too much red in their breast. You have a nice looking hen in the background of the third picture with the black body and copper hackle feathering. There is too much brown in the hen's body in the foreground of that picture. I find that the hens that lay the darkest eggs tend to have too much brown in theri body and breast though. Has anyone else found that to be true?

I am growing out several roo prospects of the sort you are looking for. Feel free to contact me in a few months to see what I ended up with if you need one still by then.

I'm so sick and tired of my BCMs I want to flush them down the toilet and replace them with more Cuckoos of the same lines as the two I already have.

My BCMs are like the ugly friends that a Black Australorp would take clubbin'.

I understand totally - I had some chicks shipped in from a "reputable" breeder from here, and although they are nice people, I have several very ugly birds with webbed toes and bad coloring already. I was quite disappointed. They are also skittish and mostly roos.

But, I also have some VERY good birds from other breeders (and a few from that bunch too) that are growing out nicely. My cuckoos I love and so does DH, but they are both roos. Gorgeous birds. We'll see!!!
