But it is the first in a long anticipated wait. I wondered if I would actually be able to tell and my eyes almost popped out of the sockets when I saw it in there.

Anyway after the SHOCK of reading NO DON'T EAT IT and I calmed down, I realized that I had her seperated from all the roos LOL! LOL! So no little chickie.

French toast does sound good...

I think Nivtup was accounting for the fact that the rooster that made the egg fertile (assuming there is one) lays a black egg.. he he and the baby that.... comes out....(assuming it is a hen)... wil LAY a number 9 dark....

Ha Ha... busted Nivtum.... Dunce cap for you.... (I am falling off my chair)... Mostly because it wasn't me this time... he he

I would say maybe 6...No chart in front of me... Super "brightness".. They don't all get that so it's a special egg on that note alone. Very attractive... Good shape for a beginner. What does everyone else think? Maybe someone has a chart there.

Thanks, I am going to have to find that chart. Now I am going to be dreaming about #9 eggs. I'll probably wake up in a panic as I make french toast out of them. Nivtup...

We have an issue around here, there are eating eggs, and there are "Eggs with potential". We have a very hard time eating any of the "eggs with potential", they seem to end up in the bator almost every time.

I would look at that egg and think "Inside there is probably a chick that will grow to be a hen with perfect confimation and coloring that lays a #9 egg throughout her cycle." if I eat an egg like that, with all of that potential inside, I will always think..............What if?

I will go hide again

Where are all these heavy Langshan " 70's legburns" coming from? What colour are the eggs these birds are hatching from? If they've been recently outcrossed to Langshan we should trace the source and take note. What sort of selection management should this lineage have? In my opinion, if this stock produces dark eggs and only the darkest eggs are hatched (over a duration) then the legburns can be permanently shaved later.
