Okay...not mossies as in mosquitos, but mossies as in mossy-colored pullets! LOL! Not to the color standard for show quality birds, but pretty nonetheless!
Well my BC roo X cuckoo pullets are getting big and beautiful. The pullet is laying an egg a bit darker than mom who can't be said to have a dark egg at all. This girl's egg is probably a 4 - 5 from what I can tell. Her little sister isn't ready to lay yet so time will tell if someone gets dads super dark egg genes.
From just looking at them, one would think they are BC pullets. I will post a picture of the oldest one and you tell me what you think (no I would never try passing them off as pure BC)
Big Bertha:
Head shot - this is more her true color - dark black with some copper around her neck:
Here she is in the coop - the flash washed out her coloring:
For the fun of it - her is a little pullet who needs a name - she is a cross between one of the red-sex links and my BCM roo. She is marked like a BC pullet but is washed out black and more golden through the neck.
Some of you have said this thread is for posting pictures of eggs and birds so I will post some pictures of some BCM eggs and wheaten eggs. I believe the BCM eggs are the darkest yet. just have to figure out which Pullet there from. The pictures were taken with out a flash there not great but you get the idea.
Can you see, in this picture, what a big difference there is in these 2 Black Copper Marans, hatched on Dec 20? They are 12 days old. Why are they so different? Does it mean something?

IMHO the one with brown is in danger of becoming a mossy adult. I've got the same thing going on with the chicks I just started hatching, so we'll be learning together.
