MARANS - Marans Club of America - Special Meet BOTH shows

what is the Special Meet? Give us some details Brenda!

60 a special meet is not really something to right home about. Me, never attended one either ask the same question. I just love learning about this stuff. LOL So I'll try and explain it the way it was explained to me ok?
Matter of fact let me just copy and paste what was explained to me.

Hi Brenda,

The meet should be for all Marans because Breed Meets are for Breeds and
specifying Black Copper would make it a variety meet - I don;t know if they
have those. : )

All that is expected of you and the membership is two show up with as many
Marans as possible for the show. Like most things involved with poultry
showing this is NOT that mysterious, it just seems to be. It is simply more
prestigious to win at a Special Meet for your breed than a regular show, and
you also get to compare your birds against other breeders birds since more
of them should be present. Lets just call it a Marans get-together . .
.it's the same thing really. Most breed clubs have a points system and I
would send them a show report of the Marans and how they placed so that they
could keep points for individual breeders awards - not all clubs do this -
the Araucanas for one do *not* tally club points. It depends on the breed
club.

There are different types of meet as far as APA and ABA are concerned and
they offer more exhibtors points depending on what type of meet.

MOAC and it's members just want to enjoy and have fun showing birds and meeting each other. The fun of showing without a big heavy yoke around our necks. Chickens (no pun intended) don't wear yokes well........Cows Do!! This makes it more fun and rewarding. Then as time goes on we not only improve on our showing techniques, but then our birds and friends will be OUR biggest rewards. Rewards that didn't leave scars from heavy yokes.
But I do have leg bands for sell.

. Seems that all of the blue and splash babies coming out of this pen have ended up boys with the exception of one little blue pullet that is going to be staying here with her mommy. She's a sweetheart like her daddy and loves to be loved on.

Hey Kim! I'm glad you saw this. I thought you would probably be on BYC but I didn't ask at the time. Aren't the little babies awesome? I'm really hoping that maybe one of the blues turns out to be a pullet. We'll see I guess.

That made me laugh so loud I was glad no one was around or they would have thought I was crazy! Squeeze it a little more for me--so sweet!

Ok here are my new birds, Which hens should i keep for breeding or should i keep all of them for breeding purposes? I noticed the 2 with more gold seems to look less like a maran than the other hen.
The HUGE rooster:

My favorite hen (she is the one with less gold)

One of the hens with more gold:

And almost all of them together:

They alll have feathered feet so does that mean they might be French BCM? I dont know much about marans so any information woudl be greatly appreciated!

americana-chick. The roo looks young, so give him a little more time. Keep the middle bird (hen or pullet) She is really nice looking. Pull the bottom (hen or pullet ) completely out of your Black Copper breeding program. She may lay your darkest egg but that mossi-ness or partridge is disqualification with the black copper marans french standards.
Hope this helps.

Oh none of these comments are on the last picture with all 3 birds in them. That one was a a little to hard to really see the birds well enough.
