The splash is marked very nice... Hard to tell due to the posture but she looks like she has a nice length of back and good angle on the tail. Her leg feathering is nice. It is hard to say about eye color until they mature as I have had late bloomers in that department. The tricky thing with splash is the egg coloring... For some reason that is lost on me they don't develop as dark of an egg... Some may not have a dark enough to be considered marans. It will be interesting to see the color egg she lays. Thanks for sharing her with us.
This is my splash...Not as nicely marked but she lays a really nice #6 consistently. She is also lacking the feathering on her shanks. My personal preference is to have the roos with feathers so my hens legs don't get the eggs mucky as I live in the Rainy belt!!! Less unhatchable eggs this way...
Geeeezzzzz, I am really confused now. Isn't mine a splash? To me, yours looks blue. I guess I need to go look on the Marans site and see what is what, don't I ?

Thanks Kathy! I've been super busy with work. Between that and taking care of all the critters on the farm I've been too pooped to do anything else but sleep!
It's been pouring rain and storming here in California for days now and everything is soaked and muddy and underwater. I've been mucking around in the horse pasture in the mornings and evenings with my wellingtons on soaking wet.
