In my experience I have seen only a couple of blue birds that lay an egg like the BCM.......my girls have yet to produce an egg that equals theirs. Someday!!!!!!!

I have seen some very nice eggs here on BYC that came from Blue or Blue Copper birds that have been GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!

Watch out for hen imposters... I have one that is 9 month old and is just now growing hackle feathers... It is maddening... Not a line I think I will try and improve!!! Too much feed expense... Twice what is necessary...DRAT!!! Double DRAT!!!

Yes I must admit..... I am a closet blue keeper... I try to only do the black... but as Pinkchick put it... Resistance is futile... They are so darn CUTE!!!! Especially the little fat babies. Update on 1st graders hatch: (probably should post on Hatch Festivus also) They had all 16 eggs pip and all but one hatched (they opened hatcher). Fertility is 100 percent and all the fuzzy babies will be posted tomarrow... Again any takers on Leghorn marans... ha ha (for those of you who don't understand the cross....It was about the egg candling for the kids)..There are lots of straight marans also and Wellie/marans. I will post all the pix and such on the Festivus thread this evening....

I guess for me I have enough blue Ameraucanas already to make for a "blue population", but Blue Wheatens. . . Aaah I can't wait until my Blue Wheatens hatch!!

Second broody

I think I am going to have the DH make me a brooder house and run...Well as soon as his whiplash goes away.. He was in his truck at a light with a car behind him when a 3rd car (19 year old texting) slammed into them luckily my DD was ok and DH has whiplash my DH has been in a wheelchair for 18 years and doesn't want to go back..
