NO KIDDING! That is absolutely the truth! Can you believe the luck! ha

I'm gonna stick to my Blues. I love the Blue and Splash colors anyway! I guess I will have a layer's coop full of ugly BCM culls, and a freezer full of BCM roo culls!

Kathy, how old is your BC roo? I wouldn't give up on him yet depending on his age. I had one that was nearly all black until 5 or 6 months old before he got normal copper coloring. He ended up looking great when he matured.

In this one you can sorta see how big the solid black one is, in comparison. He is about 6 months old.

I guess I didn't take good shots of the girls. Anyway, alot of them have yellow (not copper) in the hackles.

I didn't see the picture of your nearly black roo when I made the above comment. Yeah, he's too old for hope of normal copper coloring to come in. He might make for a good pairing with your splash hens to get some good blues. You definitely have a problem with your BC roos having too much red in their breast.

Really? I could do that? I thought you only breed copper to copper; birchen to birchen; etc ???

Well, I really don't want to breed the squirrel's tail, but I do like his size. I think I might use him with my Easter Eggers, and make Olive Eggers.

My wade jeanes do NOT look like that... not at all.... I have Wades from several different breeders and I got NOTHING that even resembled that... That is a culling nightmare... Everything I had was useable on SOMETHING... I had one that was pretty dark but not like that... I had a couple with too much red but NOT LIKE THAT.... I guess I picked the right breeders to buy from or got extremely lucky.... I got something good from everyone I bought from... (you know who you are!!!)... I did get a couple of funny batches but it wasn't a red problem... They will taste delicious!!!

If you were closer I have a really nice one but I don't need him... His only fault is that I lke the pink legs with red reticulating scales on them and he has darker acceptable yet unfeathered shanks (easy fix)..... Besides that he is perfect.. Comb, eye color, back lenght, tail, dark breast, copper feathering etc... Nice slope of long back.... a really pretty outline... nice gayly carried tail w/o defect.... You would be welcome to keep him... Wish you were close.

geebs ....
These are the ones that you sexed when they were babies. Remember what they looked like then! Progressively worse! Well, to be fair, I did get a couple good girls. I really do not see a good roo in the lot. I will keep the roo with the white band #1 on (the last picture, photo # 7 of the long post), for now. He is not from that hatched group, but from another person.

I will most certainly have a freezer full of good eatin!

Awww, you are so sweet! The offer is enough! Thank you.

ETA: Tell me what you think of my Blue and Splash Marans, please. I think they look pretty good, but am open to critiques. The one with the floppy comb .... should I not use her for breeding? Would that floppy comb be passed on to her chicks?
