wonderful news the chicks grow up quick ,so u can tell soon what the sex ... i hope u got all hens !the fertility rate is great but i did change the roosters out to only one (davis roo ) in the pens with the girls till the youngsters grow up to test breed

Yea, I hope I have more pullets too. Do you know which roo throws the clean leg chicks and the feather leg chicks?
I am asking so if I want to breed them which ones to keep. The one clean leg chick I got looks like it will have darker feathers.

thats a good question ... i have all feather leg roos and hens and i dont know for sure but i think hens and roo carry the feather leg and pass it down mabe some one can explane it .... i have 4 feather leg adult birds (had 5 till last week ). 1 roo and 3 hens and every 10 or 20 chicks i get 1 chick no feathers on legs ?

I believe at a month of age, or when the chick actually feathers out well - The pullet will have light brown feathers coming in, and the cockerel will have reds and blacks (or blues) That part is kinda obvious, but at the really young stage - look for truly black primaries in a cockerel, and lighter, more brown primaries for a pullet.

Yeah... I think those should go in the bator... I don't know abuot the leg feather question... I do know.. If one of parents has feathers the babies usually have feathers.. And that is all I know (I not put a lot of emphasis on breeding for that)... It just shows up if one of the parents has feathers... I very seldom get a clean legged offspring (although they are much easier to manage in Oregon)...It is a pond right now where I am at... I take to trimming the feathers off to keep them healthier for the climate here.
