Oh gosh! I just had the funniest PM... someone ordered Marans eggs... She asked me to (jokingly, I hope) to please send 17 pullets and one roo...

Of course I told her I would put her eggs through my egg sexer right before I beam them to her

Edited because my smiley didn't appear the first time!

I have recently acquired some Blue, Wheaten, and Black Copper Marans. I also got a couple of Welsummers and Barnevelders at the same time. I was wondering if you think this is a Marans or Barnevelder egg. I have taken some pictures of it next to what I believe to be a Welsummer egg. Also a picture on a flower pot base. If you think it is a Marans egg, how would it rate on the color scale?

Thanks,

Liz

YES! The last photo shows a girl on the right, and another bird back-left. I think they're both from your eggs. I'm pretty sure I got 2 girls and 2 boys again, just like last time. The other golden cuckoo chicks are the background far-left. I have a few regular cuckoo also.

Have any of you ordered from Cree Farms? (BCM or Blues) They have some beautiful birds, nice egg color. I'm just getting a feel
for what I might expect before shelling out lots of moola..... Private messages are fine as well. I hear they are wonderful folks to
work with.

Thank you for any information.

I have never ordered Marans from them but I got some of my original Wheaten Blue Wheaten Ameraucana stock from Lisa Cree. She has been doing chickens a long time and like me seems to gravitate to the birds that are harder get to breed true. You can rest assured that her birds will be healthy and typy. Marans are an imperfect breed but I am sure if someone is making a positive difference with their breeding program it is Lisa.

I have gotten chicks from Crees and love both of the breeds I got, as a matter of fact Im getting some more chicks from her this Sat and yes eggs too.
Ive gotten eggs from all over so the chicks Ive gotten from her have been very nice.

Here are pictues of our chicks Im bad at taking pictures..
