what line is she/he.... I totally know what you mean.... My hen had MONSTER ROO feet and was rooster feathered and had an early developing comb...Not ginormous but early.

Note the feet got cold and frostbitten so missing ends and nails... But the legs and feet were SUBSTANTIALLY bigger than hatchmates...

I finally found my best breeding pair combo. An Amy Buboltz male I hatched last year, with zero feathers on his legs with a Ray Valentine, nicely feathered shank 11 month ole pullet who lays by far my best egg color. All the babies coming from that breeding are heavily feathered legs and feet, despite the lack of feathers on the feet of my cockerel. And are good sized. Here is one I have in with some black Orpingtons to compare with.

Nice rooster, he looks just like mine. LOL Is he a high stepper too, my rooster looks like he is marching all the time.

This is my first year with the breed. Just gettin a consistant breeding pair that lays dark eggs with birds that come out with feathered legs is a a priority along with size and color. Beggars can't be choosers, I am happy with any feathered legs, better then zero feathers. lolol Long way to go before I can say he is heavily or sparsely. He is not even 2 month old. I am more concerned with size then anything. BUT, I do want feathered legs. And as of this moment, one of the bigger concerns in the breed has been consistancy in size.
Lots of variables to mess with.

I agree with the size issue .... I have a few different sources with my Marans, and I see a major difference in size!

Would this classify as sparsely? Cause this is a cockerel in the very same cage with the Marans boy. He too is a cockerel. Just not a Marans. The irony is the pen he is from, has laid super nice dark eggs IF your a Black Orpington. Dark enough to count as a #4. maybe I should explore the possibilities. Just kiddin. I feel pretty good with the size comin out of this breeding pair.
