I am a Mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One is hatched and running around like a loon! Another is zipping quickly, and another is rocking hard!! The hatched chick is getting the slackers going I believe. May have three or four in the morning!

Pics will come in the morning, I promise! I now have two hatched, and two more pipping! To say these chicks are "vigorous" would be a HUGE understatement!! They are running so fast I couldn't get a pic right now, even if my eyes weren't crossed from being so tired!

I think the first born looks like a pullet, the next is bigger and looks roo to me, time will tell...

Thanks for the good vibes! I need all the help I can get. I PROMISE, I WON'T open the bator!!!! Why can't they make a bator like a bead blasting cabinet?? You know, with the gloves that go into the box?? That way you

Okay Debbi: You thunk it.... Now lets see it!!! I will be checking back for your progress on the homemade styrobator with the glove reach inny thing (technical term here)... Hope no one got hurt in the reading of that last sentence... I am up before my rooster.

Can someone answer this question please? I have 8 young FBCM about 8wks old. They are 2 groups of 4 that come from 2 different lines. One group, supposedly Bev Davis, are fully feathered, and beautiful. Very symetrical and no gangliness. The OTHERS, though, are hideous at this age! the little roos look like dinosaur/monsters, have huge feet and legs for their size, are very slow feathering, but heavy and BIG, and have a lot of bald areas on the breast with only pin feathers....real ugly ducklings!
In fact, they are so ugly I even checked them for parasites....my question is, can 2 lines of the same breed be that different?

The Ugly Four I was told are Ron Presley/Jeane lines. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Wait until they are mature and then make your pics. I've had the ugliest cockerels turn into beautifiul adults...then sometimes they stay ugly. You just don't know until they mature.

Good morning! Long night, short on sleep, bare with me. The humidity had dropped in the bator overnight to 55%. Took action before I barely knew I was awake. Got the two hatched chicks into the brooder, they are doing well! The other two that had been pipping are still alive and peeping. May have to help the one, as it is looking dry aroung the opening. Cranked up the humidity, put a warm, moist paper towel strip near the opening, and she started to pip again, so left her alone. Going to watch that one carefully for the next few hours. I think the only thing that saved it was the opening was facing down this morning, as the other two were playing hockey with all the other eggs! To say these two chicks are "vigorous", would be a HUGE understatement!! Got 8 more eggs that are showing nothing yet, but it is early on in day 22, so we will be patient. I'm tickled with two, if I get 4, I will be extatic!! If I get more, well I'll be as happy as one person can get!

Here is a quick pic of the two hatched chicks. They are finally settling down. They know my voice and come RUNNING when they hear me! So cute. I will keep you posted throughout the day.

Looks like I may have one more pip, and another one rocking!!!!!!!!!! Got to say, this has been interesting. I had all things going against me here. 1) never hatched before 2) brand new LG bator 3) shipped eggs 4) BCM which now I keep seeing this is a tough breed to hatch?? Can't pat myself on the back just yet, and I give most of the credit to the man above for helping me through! MORE COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
