Idk, I think they aren’t great quality. Maybe Black Marans?Black copper Marans with whitish floof?
I haven't seen that before.

Possibly an Australorp. These are mystery assortments I got from Meyers, just wanted to see if you guys thought they may be Marans. (chicks were from brown egg layer and rare assortment. The company does NOT breed black stars.) 4 weeks old legs are clean but for maybe one feather on one leg.

My bad! Not sure when I got the idea that APA Marans were derived more from the English rather than French standard. One of my poultry breed books has clean-legged Marans in it and I must have just assumed... Thanks for the information! I definitely have had that assumption for yearsWay too much miss information out there on Black Copper Marans. Black Copper Marans were admitted into American Standard Of Perfection just 2 years ago, It may have been 3 years. They used mostly French standards and they must have feathered legs. Not hard to fix but should have feathered legs. English Standard calls for clean legs. They just wanted to be different.
There is a web site International Black Copper Marans Forum 1500 pages of proper Marans breeding go there read it. The true number 1 quality of Marans is egg color. Very hard to find and breed . I am in Eastern Wash. state. Have been Black Copper Marans for 5 years and I love these birds. You will not get quality birds from the hatchery and you will not get the dark eggs. TOM
