March 2022 Hatch-A-Long

I’m at day 15 with the 4 BCs that were good from my almost failed hatch. All 4 are moving around and really filling those tiny eggs up. As soon as those hatch I’ll start up a large RIR and BC batch.

2 days till I lockdown round one. Just a waiting game

The 0% rooster. What was his issue? Was he old? I ask because I just threw out 16 eggs at 10 days in. Same deal, 0%. My rooster is just under 2 years old.

I also have this problem a lot infertile eggs Maybe 75% eggs i set were infertile at day 11 so i get out 15 and put New 15 just to see are they fertile off course if they are i Will let them hatch

I candled my 7 eggs last night and only 3 had moving babies inside. The other four were all clears :/

We have 10 babies so far, olus one that is zipping right now. I already transferred 6 in the brooder. I missed chicks so much

Summary -- 9 good at day 14, 3 clears removed, 2 possible quitters left for further evaluation.

14 babies hatched in the brooder. I candled the remaining eggs quickly & only 3 live ones left.

I had 30 eggs go into lockdown (around 5 I thought were dead but put in anyway just in case). This means I lost 9 come lockdown.

This was not a good hatch. Really hoping my next hatch fares better.

DAY 14 for now 9 out of the first set of 12. Pulled 2 more quitters yesterday.
DAY 8 for the second set of 10, all look good so far.
